Penn State Starts Season Strong
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's soccer team opened its 2023 season with a resounding 4-0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Thursday night at Jeffrey Field.
The Nittany Lions controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Bonnies 21-5 and holding a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Penn State got on the board in the 15th minute when junior forward Liam Butts headed in a corner kick from senior midfielder Seth Kuhn.
- Butts' goal was his first of the season.
The Nittany Lions added to their lead in the 25th minute when senior forward Andrew Privett scored on a breakaway.
- Privett's goal was his second of the season.
Penn State continued to dominate in the second half, adding two more goals to seal the victory.
- Junior midfielder Alex Stevenson scored in the 55th minute.
- Freshman forward Peter Mangione scored in the 75th minute.
