Southwest Airlines Employee Charged with Theft
A Southwest Airlines customer service agent based at St. Louis Lambert International Airport has been charged with felony theft after he allegedly printed nearly $80,000 worth of travel vouchers, according to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
The employee, whose name has not been released, was arrested on Monday, August 8.
According to court documents, the employee admitted to police that he had printed the vouchers over a period of several months and used them to book flights for himself, his family, and friends.
- The employee has been charged with one count of felony stealing.
- He is being held on $25,000 bond.
- Southwest Airlines said it is cooperating with the investigation.
Southwest Airlines released a statement saying that it is "aware of the situation" and is "cooperating with law enforcement."
The airline said it is "committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct" and that it "does not tolerate any form of theft or fraud."
The case is still under investigation.
