Creating the Perfect Tomato Sauce
A Step-by-Step Guide
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. 2. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. 3. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. 4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and sugar. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 6. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. 7.
