ETrade Offers Indirect Crypto Exposure…But No Direct Access
Not Your Keys, Not Your Crypto
In a recent move that has left many cryptocurrency enthusiasts disappointed, E*Trade has announced that it will not be offering direct access to popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. This means that E*Trade customers will not be able to buy, sell, or trade cryptocurrencies directly through the platform.
Indirect Exposure Options
While E*Trade does not offer direct access to cryptocurrencies, it does provide its customers with a number of ways to gain indirect exposure to the cryptocurrency markets. These options include:
- Investing in cryptocurrency-related stocks: E*Trade customers can invest in stocks of companies that are involved in the cryptocurrency industry, such as Coinbase and Riot Blockchain.
- Investing in cryptocurrency ETFs: E*Trade offers a number of cryptocurrency ETFs that track the performance of a basket of cryptocurrencies.
- Investing in cryptocurrency trusts: E*Trade also offers a number of cryptocurrency trusts that provide investors with exposure to the cryptocurrency markets.
It is important to note that these indirect exposure options come with their own set of risks and rewards. For example, investing in cryptocurrency-related stocks can be more volatile than investing in cryptocurrencies directly. Additionally, cryptocurrency ETFs and trusts may have higher fees than investing in cryptocurrencies directly.
